Since news broke of her separation from Sam Asghari, Britney Spears hasn’t shied away from using her Instagram page as a place to speak her mind.
Just hours after Sam’s divorce filing was reported on Aug. 16, Brit wasted no time returning to her regular social media posting, telling her fans all about her hopes of buying a new horse.
Since then, the singer has gotten even more candid about the demise of her marriage, admitting to her followers that she “couldn’t take the pain anymore.”
“I’ve been playing it strong for way too long and my Instagram may seem perfect but it’s far from reality and I think we all know that,” she wrote in a lengthy caption about her divorce last month. “I would love to show my emotions and tears on how I really feel but for some reason I’ve always had to hide my weaknesses.”
And as she’s kept the world updated with her life as a newly single woman, Britney has continued to hint towards conflict behind closed doors.
The pointed song choice was matched by Britney’s cryptic caption, in which she asked fans about ever being deceived by their loved ones.
“My HANDS ON MY HIPS SAY EVERYTHING !!!” she wrote, referring to her gesture in the video. “How many times have you guys been lied to or tricked by someone you loved ??? Psss on repeat because well … I MEAN IT !!!”
We don’t know exactly what Britney might be referring to here, although if you’ve been following her divorce so far, you’ll know that relations between her and Sam appear strained — from the fact that he’s asked her to cover his legal fees, to his unfollowing of her on Instagram.
And on top of this, recent reports also claim that Britney allegedly has suspicions that Sam was betraying her throughout their six-year relationship by “secretly” working with her estranged father, Jamie Spears.
For a bit of context, Jamie was Britney’s conservator for 13 years before the controversial legal arrangement was terminated in November 2021.
Towards the end of the conservatorship — which came into effect after she experienced a public breakdown in 2008 — Britney publicly slammed her father for his role in the arrangement, saying in court that he "should be in jail."
Britney has made a ton of shocking claims about the terms of her conservatorship, including that she was forced to have an IUD against her will to prevent her from having any more children.
A New York Times report claimed that Jamie authorized surveillance of his daughter’s bedroom and phone without her knowledge, and paid himself over $6 million of her money without her consent.
For his part, Jamie has vehemently denied the accusations and has allegedly avoided taking part in a formal deposition where he’d have to answer questions from Britney or her attorney.
And now, reports claim that Britney believes Sam — who she met on the set of her music video in 2016 — may have been conspiring with her dad to give him “personal details” about her life.
“Britney has reason to believe that Sam was secretly working with her dad Jamie since early on in their relationship,” an inside source claimed to the Daily Mail recently.
They alleged that “Sam would supply information to Jamie that would help to keep her locked in the conservatorship,” and that “in exchange, Sam was given access to her and her money.”
“Britney now feels like Sam was being deceitful all along,” the source claimed.
Neither Britney nor Sam have directly commented on the claims in the report. BuzzFeed has reached out to reps for both parties for comment.
Since issuing a statement about the split on his Instagram account last month, Sam seems to be trying to distance himself from his estranged wife.
As well as unfollowing her on Instagram, Sam recently dodged a question about his split from the singer during an outing in LA last week, telling a reporter that he wouldn’t be discussing his “personal life.”
