Travis Barker Has Now Flown 30 Times Since Surviving A Plane Crash That Killed 4 People In 2008, And He Praised Kourtney Kardashian For Helping Him Overcome His Fear

“Wouldn’t be able to tour or enjoy life again the way I do without the healing love of my amazing wife.”

Travis Barker is continuing to praise his wife, Kourtney Kardashian, for helping him overcome his fear of flying.

For those who aren’t aware, Travis was one of two survivors of a horrific plane crash back in 2008.

The jet crashed during takeoff at an airport in South Carolina and killed the four other passengers on board, which included two of Travis’s close friends and both of the pilots.

Travis managed to escape the plane by opening the door and sliding down its wing, with his friend Adam Goldstein — the only other survivor — behind him. A year after the crash, Adam died from a prescription drug overdose, making Travis the last remaining survivor.

“The plane’s on fire and my hands are on fire so I unbuckle my seat belt and I jump right into the jet, which holds all the fuel,” he recalled during a 2015 interview. “I basically ignited my whole body in fire. I'm so soaked in jet fuel, there's nothing I can do to put the fire out.”

As a result, Travis was left suffering third-degree burns on 65% of his body, some of which were so severe that he almost lost a foot. He ended up having to undergo 27 surgeries, and was in hospital for 11 weeks.

Travis also experienced severe survivor's guilt and PTSD as a result of the crash, and developed a deadly fear of flying. For the next 13 years, he would not step foot on a plane, and even found himself convinced that jets in the sky were “going to crash” if he looked up at them.

But things changed for Travis in August 2021, when he took his first flight in 13 years with his wife, Kourtney, by his side.

Travis celebrated the momentous occasion with a sweet Instagram post crediting Kourt for helping him overcome his fear, and later revealed that she “stuck by” him when he tried getting out of the flight the night before.

Kourtney and Travis have since taken multiple flights together to several lavish vacation spots, and they even got married abroad in Italy last May.

And Travis has repeatedly praised Kourtney for continuing to support him on each flight he takes. In fact, fans witnessed Kourt’s sweet way of comforting Travis with a prayer before one of their flights took off in an episode of The Kardashians on Hulu that aired last year.

Now, Travis has taken to new platform Threads to praise Kourtney for her support once again as he celebrated taking his 30th flight since the crash.

Travis, who is currently on tour with his band Blink 182, wrote on Threads, “Just flew for the 30th time since my plane crash. Wouldn’t be able to tour or enjoy life again the way I do without the healing love of my amazing wife. I love you @kourtneykardash.”

Kourtney replied, “So proud of you, my husband,” along with a prayer emoji and a red heart.

Reacting to the sweet exchange on Reddit, one fan wrote, “This is so sweet. It’s huge to find someone that makes you feel like you can do/overcome anything.”

“Travis's story always made me realize how powerful & important healing is. For him to be able to go back on planes after what happened and the fact that Kourtney helped him with that. Beautiful,” wrote another.

“after reading his book and the raw description of his fear (and what led up to it), this is so very sweet. I’m happy for them,” someone else added.
