Jodie Turner-Smith has shared a couple of cryptic messages amid her ongoing divorce from Joshua Jackson.
If you missed it, Jodie filed for divorce from Joshua earlier this month after four years of marriage. The pair are mom and dad to a little girl named Juno, whom they welcomed back in 2020.
In legal filings obtained by BuzzFeed, Jodie cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split and stated that she does not want spousal support for either herself or Joshua.
In the documents, the couple’s official date of separation was listed as Sept. 13, 2023, which was just a day after they were photographed holding hands and smiling at a New York Fashion Week event.
Before long, a source close to the pair claimed that Joshua was caught totally off guard by Jodie’s decision to file for divorce. Speaking with Us Weekly earlier this month, the insider said, “Joshua was clearly caught off guard by Jodie’s decision to divorce. They had their issues, as many couples do — especially two busy actors who are also juggling a child.”
“Joshua obviously didn’t realize it was this bad, that Jodie was this unhappy,” they said, before adding that the pair’s close friends were also “baffled” by their split.
Meanwhile, a separate insider claimed to People that Jodie felt her and Joshua’s marriage had become “unhealthy.” They alleged, “She decided that she is done. It turned into an unhealthy marriage that made her unhappy.”
Jodie has yet to address the split at length. However, she recently shared a series of cryptic quotes to her Instagram stories.
Last week, Jodie posted a message that read, “Everything heals and grows when it is loved well. People, too.” A few days later, she shared a quote about “unhealed people.”
“An unhealed person can find offense in pretty much anything someone does,” the quote read. “A healed person understands that actions of others has absolutely nothing to do with them. Each day, you get to decide which one you will be.”
Jodie’s pointed post came just a day after her estranged husband Joshua was seen hanging out with Lupita Nyong’o, who recently announced that she’s single too.
Lupita shared an emotional Instagram post last week revealing that she’d split from TV host Selema Masekela. She wrote, “I find myself in a season of heartbreak because of a love suddenly and devastatingly extinguished by deception.”
“I am tempted to run into the shadows and hide, only to return to the light when I have regained my strength enough for me to say, ‘Whatever, my life is better this way.’ But I am reminded that the magnitude of the pain I am feeling is equal to the measure of my capacity for love. And so, I am choosing to face the pain, cultivating the courage to meet my life exactly as it is, and trusting that this too shall pass,” she continued.
A day before announcing her breakup, Lupita was pictured out with Joshua and a group of friends at a Janelle Monae concert.
