Purim is a Jewish holiday that comes from the book of Esther in the Bible, and celebrates the day Jews avoided being killed by the ruler of the Persian empire.
Beginning Wednesday night, Jews around the world began celebrating the holiday, donning eye-catching costumes and parading through the streets. It is basically the Jewish version of Halloween, but so much better. Here's why, in photos:
