Angus Cloud’s Dad Died After “A Brief Fight With Cancer” In May, And The Speed At Which His Illness Progressed Was “Devastating” For His Loved Ones

In June, Angus’s mom opened up about the grief of losing her husband as she wrote: “I know I will eventually get out of the puddle of tears I am swimming in.”

On Monday, it was confirmed that Angus Cloud had died at his family home in Oakland, California, at 25 years old.

The beloved actor shot to fame just four years ago, after he was scouted by a casting agent on the streets of Brooklyn and landed the role of fan-favorite Fezco in Sam Levinson’s HBO drama Euphoria.

While Angus’s cause of death has not been shared, his family revealed that they had just recently returned from Ireland where they had buried his father, Conor Hickey.

In a statement, they said that Angus had been struggling to cope with his dad’s death, and that their “only comfort” is that the two are now together again. In addition to his mom, Lisa, Angus is survived by his younger sisters, Molly and Fiona.

“Last week, he buried his father and intensely struggled with this loss. The only comfort we have is knowing Angus is now reunited with his dad, who was his best friend," it went on. "Angus was open about his battle with mental health, and we hope that his passing can be a reminder to others that they are not alone and should not fight this on their own in silence."

Last month, Angus had posted a photo of his dad posing in a red hoodie and matching sweatpants to his Instagram page, writing in the caption: “miss u breh.”

On July 18, Angus revealed that he was in Dublin, Ireland, in another social media post, but did not share that he was there for his father’s burial.

It is believed that Angus’s dad’s passing came as a huge shock to the family, with the 65-year-old Irish native dying soon after he was diagnosed with cancer. On May 20, Angus’s mom shared a friend’s Facebook post to announce her husband’s death.

“I’m forwarding a note posted by my husband's best friend,” Lisa wrote. “I am unable to compose my own note, but wanted to let friends know that my husband left this world yesterday morning after a great visit with all the kids who flew in to see him at hospital.”

On June 3, Lisa penned her own tribute to Conor and said that how quickly his cancer progressed was “devastating” for his loved ones. However, she found “comfort” with the fact that he didn’t suffer for too long.

She said: “My fella lived large and loud! His cancer moved quickly which was devastating to all who loved him, but there is comfort in the fact that his pain wasn't prolonged. He is the love of my life. He was an incredible father to his three children, and a great support to many many others as well.”

Later that month, Lisa acknowledged that she was in a “time of devastating grief,” telling her online friends: “I know I will eventually get out of the puddle of tears I am swimming in and create the next chapter in the book of me.”

Less than three weeks before Angus’s death on Monday, Lisa paid tribute to him on his birthday. Sharing a smiling candid photo of her oldest child, the proud mom wrote: “Happy birthday to the best son in the whole wide world!!”

She has since reposted tributes to Angus, but has not yet written anything herself.
