Once again, Chris Noth is denying the multiple sexual assault allegations against him.
In December 2021, the Sex and the City actor reprised his role as Mr. Big in the HBO show’s highly anticipated revival, And Just Like That.... His return was short-lived, however, as his character died in the first episode.
A week after And Just Like That... premiered, Chris was accused of sexual misconduct by two women, who claimed that they were sexually assaulted by him on separate occasions in 2004 and 2015.
Chris vehemently denied the allegations at the time, saying in a statement: “The accusations against me made by individuals I met years, even decades, ago are categorically false. These stories could've been from 30 years ago or 30 days ago — no always means no — that is a line I did not cross.”
However, more accusations would follow, starting on Dec. 18, when a third woman came forward alleging that Chris sexually assaulted her in 2010 when he was 55 and she was 18.
Five days later, on Dec. 23, singer-songwriter Lisa Gentile also claimed she was “sexually victimized” and “sexually abused” by Chris in 2002.
The same day, an actor named Heather Kristin became the fifth person to speak out against the actor, alleging that she experienced “toxic” and “disgusting” behavior while working alongside him on four seasons of Sex and the City.
In spite of his initial denial, Chris’s career took an intense hit. Within a matter of days after the first accusers came forward, a Peloton ad he starred in was removed, he was fired from his role in The Equalizer, and he was also dropped from his talent agency.
It was also later confirmed by Variety that a fantasy sequence involving the actor was edited out of the And Just Like That... season finale in February 2022.
In December 2021, Chris’s former costars, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon, issued a joint statement, saying they were “deeply saddened” by the allegations, but support “the women who have come forward and shared their painful experiences.”
And now, in his first interview since the allegations surfaced, Chris claims that the only thing he is guilty of is cheating on his wife, Tara Wilson.
“I strayed on my wife, and it's devastating to her and not a very pretty picture. What it isn't is a crime,” he told USA Today, before emphasizing his belief that the encounters were consensual and that betraying his wife was his sole transgression.
“You give yourself the same excuses that many men do; it's just a little side dance, and it's fun,” he said. “You're not hurting anybody. No one's going to know about this, you know, and sex is just enjoyable. And suddenly, a lot of people want to have sex with you. It's like, ‘Well, I'm not going to get this chance again.’”
As it stands, no criminal charges have been filed, and the actor continues to double down on his initial statement from 2021.
“There's nothing I can say to change anyone's mind when you have that kind of a tidal wave,” he said, commenting on the swift fallout. “It sounds defensive. I'm not. There's no criminal court. There's no criminal trial. There's nothing for me to get on the stand about and get my story out, get witnesses. And there's even more absurd add-ons that are completely ridiculous, that have absolutely no basis in fact.”
Earlier this summer, shortly after the premiere of And Just Like That... Season 2, Chris shut down reports that he felt “iced out” by his former colleagues on the show, namely Sarah Jessica Parker.
“I usually don’t respond to this kind of thing. And I do know that people like drama and gossip... but this article […] is absolute nonsense,” he wrote on Instagram alongside a screenshot of a Page Six report. “Just thought you’d like to know.”
Sarah Jessica has not addressed Chris’s comments, although she told the Hollywood Reporter in May last year that she hadn’t spoken to him since the allegations surfaced in 2021.
