A 35-year-old woman was charged with murder Tuesday after her 1-year-old son was found unresponsive in a restaurant bathroom.

Latisha Fisher was arrested and charged with murder in the death of her son, Gavriel Ortiz-Fisher, according to the New York Police Department.
When police arrived at 5 Boro Burger in Midtown Monday afternoon, the boy was unresponsive and in cardiac arrest, police said. He was taken to Bellvue Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
According to CBS New York, Fisher took the boy into the restaurant's bathroom and locked the door. After an unusual amount of time, employees unlocked the door to check on her, which is when they found the child unresponsive.
Mayor Bill de Blasio told the New York Times it appeared the woman had severe mental health issues. He added that his administration would work to prevent similar tragedies.
