Police Dog Who Once Caught "Spider-Man" Burglar Is Stabbed And Fighting For Life

K-9 Thor had to receive blood transfusions.

A police dog in Louisiana was stabbed Tuesday while chasing a burglary suspect, the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office said in a Facebook post.

The K-9, Thor, was "in emergency surgery this evening and is receiving a blood transfusion due to the amount of blood he lost. Doctors are hopeful that he will recover," officials said Tuesday.

Thor won local acclaim in 2014 after taking down the so-called "Spider-Man" burglar.

The burglar was allegedly climbing on to rooftops in order to rob homes around Baton Rouge, The Advocate reported at the time.

Thor reportedly chased the suspect — who at one point hid in a church — for four hours before finally finding him taking cover inside a bus.

In Tuesday's incident, a resident called police about two people burglarizing her home.

Officers found a vehicle matching the description of one belonging to the suspects and and pursued them to an area near I-12 and Hwy. 59.

Both bailed out of the car, and one suspect was immediately arrested.

The other, police said, "led deputies on an hours-long search."

Around 4:30 p.m., Thor found the suspect in a barn.

"The suspect jumped from a pile of debris and attempted to attack one of our deputies with a knife. When K-9 Thor engaged him, the suspect then stabbed the dog in the shoulder/neck area," police said. The suspect died.
