We may be on the verge of another Hawaiian shirt boom.
No, seriously, we are thisclose.
At least that's the opinion of one analyst attending MAGIC Market Week, a major retail industry show in Las Vegas, who noted that many clothing companies are carrying patterned shirts for the spring.
"We noticed that a large percentage of lines carried a version of the traditional Reyn Spooner-like Hawaiian shirt," Gabriella Santaniello, an analyst at Wedbush Securities, wrote in a note yesterday, adding that they "ran the gamut in color and styling" and nearly all of the silhouettes were slim cut.
"We believe that the resurgence amongst the most discerning customers, the hipsters, is indicative of an emerging trend as it trickles down to the more mass-market consumer," she wrote.
