NORTHFIELD, N.H. -- BuzzFeed keeps seeing these two at Rick Santorum events on the trail. They are David Leak and his daughter Bethany, originally from Texas but now living in Andover, New Hampshire.
David thought that Santorum's performance today at a town hall meeting in Northfield was "very good."
"He explained what's wrong and explained how he's going to fix it," he said.
David's favorite part of Santorum's message: "the self-government aspect. The individual is who's in charge." BuzzFeed asked why he's not a Ron Paul supporter, and he said that Paul's foreign policy "is just off the map." And he hates Paul's views on legalizing drugs -- "What jobs are drug addicts going to be able to get that they won't have to be on welfare?"
Bethany isn't quite as into Santorum but she goes with her dad for support. It is Christmas break, after all. Her favorite candidate is Santorum by default, but she also thinks that Michele Bachmann, who's no longer a candidate, "has some good ideas." Bethany is in eighth grade and can't vote in this cycle, and in fact David can't vote in New Hampshire either -- the Leaks moved to the state only three months ago and he'll be voting by absentee ballot in Texas.
