John Kerry appeared on Morning Joe Friday morning and suggested that Sen. Scott Brown, currently running to keep his seat, is not in fact a Red Sox fan.
When Willie Geist said he was the only Yankees fan on set, Kerry interjected, "No, you have Scott Brown there."
He then clarified that it was "totally all in jest."
"We're just having fun this morning. We're just having fun. I want to announce to the Boston press, that's fun. Only fun."
Brown came under criticism for receiving a donation from Yankees president Randy Levine recently (the Boston Herald referred to it as "tapping the evil empire"). But Kerry, who once mashed Sox stars Manny Ramirez and David Ortiz into a nonexistent player called "Manny Ortez," may lack the authority to question other politicians' devotion to the team.
