BuzzFeed Exclusive: The Santorum-Gingrich Love Fest (With Slightly Less Love On Santorum's Side)

Newt Gingrich praised Iowa almost-winner Rick Santorum today, saying he's running a "good, positive campaign." In a brief exchange with BuzzFeed this evening, Santorum didn't rule out the possibility of working with Gingrich to defeat favorite Mitt Romney, though he didn't sound too enthusiastic.

BEDFORD, NH -- BuzzFeed asked Santorum if he'd ever be willing to team up with Gingrich to take on the Mitt machine. Santorum didn't say yes, but he didn't say no: the former senator told us, "My feeling is that when you’re running back in the pack, you stay focused on who's ahead of you. That’s what we’re gonna do. Obviously who’s ahead here in New Hampshire is Mitt Romney, and that’s who we want to get our votes from."

Santorum's words for Gingrich weren't as glowing as Newt's for Santorum, though. Gingrich also said today, "I clearly like Rick Santorum a lot and I think Rick Santorum will tell you he likes me a lot."

"We are personally very good friends and have known each other for many, many years," he added, even describing Santorum as a "terrific person."

Also tonight, during an interview with Bill O'Reilly taped at Santorum headquarters in Bedford, the candidate told O'Reilly that his campaign has raised almost a million dollars in the past day. When a reporter asked him about where that figure came from afterwards, he laughed and said, "That's what my folks here told me."
