Missing Son Of Boston Globe Columnist Found Safe In Times Square

Caleb Jacoby, the 16-year-old son of Boston Globe columnist Jeff Jacoby and his wife Laura, disappeared on Monday. He was found safe on Thursday, police said.

Caleb Jacoby, the missing 16-year-old Massachusetts student who became the subject of a Boston-area search aided by a social media campaign, was found in New York's Times Square on Thursday, police said.

Jacoby, the 11th grade son of Boston Globe OpEd columnist Jeff Jacoby and his wife Laura, disappeared on Monday around 12:30 p.m. Hundreds of volunteers, as well as members of local Jewish groups, began searching for him near his suburban Boston home and spread tweets, emails and Facebook messages featuring his picture.

"Baruch HaShem! [Thank God] The Brookline Police Department has confirmed that Caleb Jacoby has been found and is safe," Maimonides School, where Jacoby is a student, posted on its Facebook page. "Thank you all for your prayers and efforts on his behalf."

Police did not immediately say how Jacoby may have ended up in Times Square or how he was found.

Jeff Jacoby posted a statement on Facebook confirming his son had been found.
