President Obama Calls Flight MH17 Crash "An Outrage Of Unspeakable Proportions"

President Obama: At least one American citizen, Quinn Lucas Schansman, was killed on board Malaysia Airlines flight MH17.

At least one American citizen was killed when Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 was shot down over Ukraine, President Obama announced Friday.

The State Department confirmed the identity of the American killed as a US-Dutch citizen, Quinn Lucas Schansman.

President Obama called the downing of MH17 "an outrage of unspeakable proportions" and said that U.S. intelligence indicates the plane "was shot down by a surface-to-air missile launched from a separatist-held area in Ukraine."

President Obama called for an immediate ceasefire in the region. "It's time for peace to be restored in Ukraine."

Obama says, "It is not possible for these separatists to function...without sophisticated equipment, sophisticated training. And that is coming from Russia."

U.S. State Dept. confirms that one American citizen was killed in the downing of MH 17.

Thoughts and prayers go out to all families of Malaysia flight victims including family of Quinn Lucas Schansman, a dual Dutch-U.S. citizen.
