NEW YORK, N.Y. — Standing outside a downtown Manhattan firehouse next to "America's mayor," Mitt Romney once again criticized President Obama for politicizing the death of Osama bin Laden — and invoked Vice President Joe Biden in arguing that he would have given the same order as Obama.
After praising Obama for overseeing the operation that killed the 9/11 mastermind, Romney faced questions from press about 2007 comments he made about not wanting to "move heaven and earth" to capture bin Laden.
For the first time, Romney compared his 2007 remarks to those of Biden.
"I think I said the same thing as the Vice President Joe Biden, which was that it was naive of the president to announce he would go into Pakistan," Romney said. We always reserve the right to go anywhere to get Osama bin Laden, I've said that very clearly."
Giuliani also defended Romney against the Obama campaign's assertion that Romney wouldn't have made the same call as the president if he were in the Oval Office.
