A tense night Thursday in Ferguson culminated with a fight between protesters and police.
The fight reportedly started after Ferguson Police Chief Thomas Jackson came out to address the protesters, who had gathered in the city's downtown.
Jackson made headlines Thursday morning when he released a video apologizing for the way the Michael Brown case and ensuing protests had been handled. The video was the brainchild of Devin James, a PR consultant hired by the city after Brown was killed. The city fired James Thursday after learning that he was convicted of reckless homicide in 2006.
The video apparently did little to appease protesters; throughout the protest Thursday night people chanted and carried signs criticizing police. Many of the protesters called for Jackson's resignation.
The fight also came after several hours of heightened tension between law enforcement and protesters. Earlier in the evening, reporters at the scene tweeted about seeing officers in riot gear, and the fight ultimately broke out near the police station, about two miles from the epicenter of the protests last month.
The fight was followed by several arrests, which included independent journalist Umar Lee.
Police also continued maintaining a line of officers between the protesters and the station, and later ordered protesters to disperse.
