A Bronx Man Decapitated Himself In Broad Daylight With A Chain And His SUV

The man committed suicide by severing his own head at about 9:35 a.m. ET Monday.

The man was identified as Tomas Rivera, 51, of Port Jervis, New York.

A Bronx man decapitated himself Monday using a chain and his Honda CRV, the New York Daily News reported.

The man reportedly tied a chain to an electric pole, and also to his head. He then climbed inside his white 2005 Honda Pilot and hit the gas.

Police said the resulting force ripped the man's head off, and he died at the scene. His out-of-control car speeded down the street and crashed into a stationary vehicle.

The impact caused his body to be ejected from the car onto the street.

He was 51 years old, but officers did not release his name.

The incident happened around 9:35 a.m. in Hunts Point, near the intersection of Randall and Longfellow avenues.
