Bristol Palin Announces Birth Of Baby Girl, Sailor Grace

"Our family couldn't be more complete," she wrote on Instagram.

Bristol Palin on Thursday announced the birth of her second child, a girl named Sailor Grace.

Sailor Grace, born on Wednesday, is the second child out of wedlock for the daughter of 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin. Bristol was 18 when she gave birth to son Tripp in December 2008, and became of focus of scrutiny when she became a national abstinence advocate soon after.

In her announcement Thursday on Instagram, she said "our family couldn't be more complete."

Bristol caused a splash when she announced earlier this year that she was pregnant and called the development "disappointing."

She never revealed the father's identity, but made the announcement about one month after breaking off her engagement to Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer.

After getting blowback for her choice of words, Bristol followed up with a blog post explaining that she was merely disappointed with the timing of the pregnancy.

"Everyone knows I wanted more kids, to have a bigger family," she wrote. "Believing I was heading that way, I got ahead of myself. Things didn't go as planned, but life keeps going. Life moves on."

The Dancing With The Stars alum added: "This baby is not a disappointment, and I cannot wait to be a mom times two. Tripp is going to make the best big brother!"
