ISIS Militants Appear To Behead Kurdish Man In New Video

In the footage, Kurdish prisoners are paraded in front of the camera, before one appears to be killed.

Militant fighters for the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) have released a new video in which they appear to behead a Kurdish man in northern Iraq, according to the BBC.

Prior to the killing, the man is seen kneeling down in front of a mosque in the ISIS-held city of Mosul.

The man is one of what is claimed to be a group of Kurdish fighters captured by ISIS, and the video is said to be a warning to forces fighting against the militants in northern Iraq.

The video — titled "A Message in Blood" — also states that such killings will be repeated if Kurdish leaders continue to back the U.S., and if the U.S. continues to provide assistance to the Kurdish "peshmerga" militia in the region, the Daily Mail reports.

Earlier in the video, ISIS parades a group of men in orange jumpsuits before the camera, claiming that they are Kurdish prisoners.

There is also footage purporting to show Kurdish fighters surrendering to ISIS insurgents.

Yesterday, ISIS videos from Syria appeared to show the mass killing of Syrian soldiers who had been taken prisoner when their base was overrun.

The BBC also reported that the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the soldiers were captured while they were in the process of fleeing to Hama province when militants stormed their Tabqa airbase.

Last week, ISIS released a video showing the beheading of American journalist James Foley.

ISIS are fighting to establish an Islamic "caliphate" stretching across the areas of Syria and Iraq it controls.
