The barrage of political attacks and personal insults exchanged between Donald Trump and Ted Cruz doesn't appear to be letting up anytime soon. Speaking on Boston Herald Radio's Morning Meeting on Thursday, Cruz vowed not to reciprocate Trump's latest behavior, which he compared to that of a schoolyard child.
"In recent days he's gone to launching nastier and nastier personal insults, directed at me, just the other day he said I was now, 'worse than Hillary,' which was quite an interesting statement to hear him say," said Cruz. "My response: I do not intend to reciprocate. I like Donald Trump. I respect him. And I'm not gonna behave — I don't think the American people want to hear politicians behaving like schoolyard children throwing taunts at each other. What we should be discussing are the issues and the substance."
Cruz said the Republican establishment was leaving Marco Rubio for Trump.
"We are seeing an amazing thing happen in this race, which is the Washington establishment more and more is leaving Marco Rubio — I think they've decided Marco can't win and they're going to Donald Trump," he said. "You know, just yesterday Bob Dole came out praising Donald Trump and saying, 'look Donald is someone we can work with. He'll cut a deal. He'll cut a deal with the Democrats. He'll cut a deal with the lobbyist.' He said, 'Cruz, he scares the heck out of me.'"
