On Saturday morning, Malaysia Airlines released Flight 17's passenger manifest on their website, listing the names of the 298 people who were on board the plane.
Malaysia Airlines also asked family and friends of the victims to contact its Family Support Centre, or reach out to the airline's offices around the world.
"In the past 45 hours, the airline together with various foreign embassies have made every effort to establish contact with the next-of-kin but is still unable to identify many more family members," the statement read.
There were 283 passengers and 15 crew members on board MH17, including about 80 children, the Associated Press reports. There are no known survivors.
In a statement to the media, the airlines said that it had deployed a ferry flight last night with 212 personnel from various government and media bodies to head to Kiev and Amsterdam for a special mission to investigate MH17.
This is the breakdown of the passengers' nationalities, according to the manifest:
Netherlands - 193 (including one person with a dual Netherlands/U.S. citizenship)
Malaysia - 43 (including 15 crew and two infants)
Australia - 27
Indonesia - 12 (including one infant)
United Kingdom - 10 (including one dual UK/South African citizen)
Germany - 4
Belgium - 4
Philippines - 3
Canada - 1
New Zealand - 1
