The Tortoise Elevator
Apparently, the tortoise in this video has a bad habit of trying to escape his enclosure by climbing over the wall. So to keep the tortoise from falling and hurting himself, his owner devised a really clever elevator to get him to the ground safely. See, physics is useful! (via)
Tortoise Eats Pumpkin
I will never get tired of videos of tortoises eating. This time the nomming is in the spirit of the season! (via)
Turtle and Tortoise With Handles
Earth to selfish idiots: turtles and tortoises' shells are part of their skeleton. Drilling holes to attach handles will hurt them. Thankfully, these two have been rescued from their former owner. Still, I don't suppose we could get 4chan on this, could we? (via)
Child Rides Tortoise
AND the kid is steering with a piece of lettuce. Doesn't this only work in cartoons? (via)
Little Turtle Dance
I’m totally convinced that turtles practice their dance moves when humans aren’t around. This guy’s too young to realize he’s giving away trade secrets! (via)
This Here is a Gopher
I know what you're thinking and NO its not a turtle [Vernon Florida 1982]
Excited Turtles!
There's nothing more heartwarming than a turtle that's happy to see you! (Via)
Variations On Tortoises Humping Shoes
OK, I get it. Tortoises make odd squeaky noises and have inexplicable attractions to inanimate objects. Especially shoes. But it's time to start being more creative with these videos because they're clogging up Youtube. Here some examples of where I think we should be going with these.
Helping Baby Turtles
Depending on the species of turtle and climate, turtle eggs take about 2-4 months to hatch. Even though it's now October, there are still baby turtles struggling to get to water. Here's what they go through and of course, what you can do to help them out.
Why I Couldn't Be In Class
No thanks to Hurricane Nicole, the weather in New England was pretty nasty last week. But SOME creatures don't mind getting wet, and so Tumblr user CalamitySam found herself trapped by a giant snapping turtle that refused to cross the road. She sent this picture to her professor as evidence of why she couldn't make it to class on time. If I were the prof, I'd totally understand.
Tortoise Has a Bad Day
It's bad enough when your girlfriend is a soccer ball. But you know it's time to go back to bed when you're caught in the act by a buddy who's perfectly happy to give you crap for it.
For the Love of Pug
Speedy and Foo have a difficult relationship. Speedy is a tortoise who can't settle down. Foo the Pug is a homebody whose heart is broken every time Speedy leaves. Poor Foo. I'd cry too.
IMPOSTERS WILL BE NOMMED!
Tortoises will not hesitate to nom their own kind...if it's made out of fruit.
Raising Hope "Breakfast Turtle"
The second episode of Raising Hope, Fox's new series about a crazy family struggling to care for a baby after her mother was executed for murder (no fooling!), featured a "breakfast turtle" that looked very familiar. I don't care if turtle burgers are famous now! I still think they're pretty gross.
Bearded Dragon Rides Sulcata Tortoise
Based on the soundtrack, I can only assume that these two are off on a journey of deep spiritual reflection. Or maybe they're being just a little bit emo.
When Snappers "Do It"
Snapping turtle sex is significantly less squeaky than tortoise sex. But Snappers really have to work hard at synchronizing their swimming.

Ninja Star Turtle
One Spiny Hill Turtle, Heosemys Spinosa, hatched at the Tennessee Aquarium Monday, September 20th from a clutch of three eggs. You could totally use it to kill your enemies!
Aesop's Robotic Fables
Slow, steady and exceptional body armor wins the race.
Building a Turtle
Some people are good at being crafty (not me). Over 100 hours of labor went into creating this wire turtle. I think it came out pretty well, don't you?
