BP to Stop Burning Turtles Alive
Well, when I first posted about BP killing endangered turtles in their controlled burns I wasn't sure anything would come of it. But earlier today, BP and the Coast Guard settled the lawsuit brought against them for harming endangered species. BP has agreed to halt burns for a week, and to clear burn boxes of sea turtles before setting them on fire. To everyone who shared the initial story, give yourself a pat on the back. You saved some turtles!

The Man from T.U.R.T.L.E.
All this business with spies lately has prompted the government to refocus its attention on Chrysemys picta, the Painted Turtle. This small, seemingly unassuming creature is semi-aquatic, making it capable of launching devastating amphibious assaults without warning. Luckily, the Man from T.U.R.T.L.E. is on the trail of this potential agitator.

The Shyest Sunbathers
Softshell turtles love to stretch out in the sun and bask. But they hate being watched. If they spy a stranger, they'll bury themselves in the mud faster than you can say "Prisencolinensinainciusol." Although, I never could figure out how to pronounce that.

I Stopped for a Turtle This Morning
I brake for turtles because it's the least I can do. Humans destroy turtles' habitats and continue to harvest the eggs and meat of dwindling species.
