Kids Drawing H.P. Lovecraft

Artist David Milano decided it would be a good idea to have kids from an art retreat draw pictures of monsters. And not just any monsters - but the creatures from the stories of H.P. Lovecraft. So 16 kids in Canoga Park spent an afternoon drawing the Yith, the Elder Things, the Shoggoth and, of course, the Great Cthulhu. (Via)

Kaydara: The Fan-Made Matrix Sequel

I realize when I say "fan made" you think "bad" but Kaydara is a real French movie with real production value, on par with your average SyFy movie-of-the-week, if not, a little better. At very least, I'd say it looks better than Reloaded or Revolutions. Both the trailer and the movie are down below. (Via)

MIT Makes A (Really Bad) Princess Leia Hologram

Using a hacked Kinect and 16 lo-res infrared cameras, the MIT Media Lab created this structured light moving image of a reenactment of Princess Leia's call for help from Star Wars. Making its premiere at the Practical Holography XXV conference in San Francisco (well, that exists), the final product leaves a little to be desired and I'm not just talking about the grad student's acting skills. Robocop 1924

In 1924 Sci-Fi legend Hugo Gernsback envisioned what a radio police automaton might look like. Clearly designed to disperse large groups, he comes complete with tear gas and one badass gyroscopic beating stick. (Via) Note: Someone redid some of the lost text in Comic Sans. My sources still say this is legit.

Marvel Vs. DC Scavenger Hunt

Comics Alliance commissioned this massive mural of Marvel Vs. DC to celebrate the 15th Anniversary of the original Marvel Vs. DC crossover. The 'Where's Waldo' of it all is the Invisible Woman. Really. There's also a ton of other geekallicious stuff to find. See if you can find it all.

Colin and the Best Job Application EVER

I've heard of making your resume stand out, but this is ridiculous. Mark Boulton Design in Penarth, UK wanted an Apprentice Web Designer and Colin really, really wanted the job. But he knew he wasn't the only one. In order to stand out, he personally hand delivered a box containing instruction cards and a number of envelopes they were directed to open in a certain order. Here is what they found:

Kid Casting

Dave Shumka collects stills from movies and TV at his single-serve Kidcasting blog so he can compare actors with their youthified versions. Here are 30 of them.

Will You Be Raptured?

I fear that by the time you read this it may be too late. If 6 p.m. May 21, 2011 has already come and gone by the time you read this and you've been left behind, here is a handy-dandy chart that will tell you where you went astray. Click to embiggen. (Via)

Everyone Draw Mohammed Day

So this won't piss anyone off... Apparently May 20 is Everybody Draw Mohammed Day. The tradition started last year as a response to the backlash of the national outcry against and in favor of Comedy Central censoring an episode of South Park that featured the Prophet Muhammed (peace be upon him) in a bear suit. I am not posting the depictions here. Since any depiction of the Prophet Muhammed (peace be upon him) is traditionally considered sacrilege, you will have to click the link to view the images. This raises all sorts of intriguing First Amendment questions. Discuss!

9 Things That Could End the World at Any Time

With the end of the world rapidly approaching, it couldn't hurt to look at how it might all go down. Or in the unlikely event the world does not end on May 21, 2011, it's still nice to know there are at least 9 real world-ending things that don't necessarily require divine intervention to end all life as we know it. Type Porn

PMCA's newest show in Pasadena, CA "Getting Upper" asked 26 artists to deconstruct and rebuild all 26 letters of the alphabet. Here's what they came up with. (Via)

Angry Birds Vs. Tiny Wings

For those who don't know, there is more than one mobile game that combines physics with flightless fowl. It could be said that one just ripped off the other. But for those who are really, truly in the know, there is only one true physics game about killing inhabitants of oddly constructed 2-D buildings. (Via)
