New Trend Alert: Silly Bandz

Move over Pokemon & Beanie Babies, a new trend is being banned in middle and elementary schools around the country: Silly Bandz. These brightly colored rubber bands come in various shapes and are perfect for bartering with on the playground. I don't claim to understand this trend, but as someone who collected quite a few pogs in her day, I give kudos to the children for latching onto something that actually has a practical use.

Photography's Longest Exposure

Justin Quinnell took this photograph with a pinhole camera made from an empty soda can, which he strapped to a telephone pole overlooking Bristol's Clifton Suspension Bridge. The camera remained at the top of the telephone pole for six months, during which it captured the different phases of the sun.

The Gates of Hell Just Opened in Guatemala

This image was posted by the Guatemalan government after a sinkhole suddenly appeared in the middle of a street intersection. Luckily no one was harmed, but my crackpot theory that the Guatemalan government is in bed with the devil has never been more steadfast. (Via Gizmodo). EDIT: Apparently this has happened before.
