Intimate Photos Show Guantanamo Detainees As Never Seen Before

People can see the faces of Guantanamo Bay detainees for the first time now that the Pentagon has allowed the Red Cross to take photographs for inmates' families. Since 2009, the organization has captured familiar photos of the 164 prisoners smiling or posing as they would if they were outside the jail. The Geneva Convention has forbid images to be taken of prisoners of war, but willing families shared the pictures with the Miami Herald for this first look.

Wrestling Saves Its Spot At The Olympics By Tweaking Its Rules

One of the most historically Olympic sports almost got cut from the games entirely. Wrestling was controversially dropped from the International Olympic Committee's core list in February inciting an outcry from the the athletic community. Advocates of the ancient sport campaigned to ensure that it would be included in the 2020 Tokyo Summer Games, which it did by modernizing the rules and adding weight classes for women.

Mother's Death Row Conviction Overturned Decades Later

Debra Milke was convicted in 1990 of killing her 4-year-old son Christopher, supposedly to reap the $5,000 from his life insurance. On Friday, however, the 49-year-old was released after evidence was found questionable. She escaped her death sentence after a detective's honesty was deemed uncertain when he said that Milke confessed. A judge has now overturned her conviction, but she still faces a new trial in Arizona.
