Wolfram Alpha Easter Eggs

Wolfram Alpha launched late Friday afternoon, giving everyone, including bloggers, a weekend to play with the “computational knowledge engine”. And there is some easter eggs: try typing “88 mph” into the search box. Here’s what you’ll find: 88 mph = speed at which Marty McFly needed to drive the Delorean DMC-12 in order to time travel. Alexander Rybak

Alexander Rybak made his status of top favourite come true and sang Norway to the victory in the Eurovision Song Contest 2009. Singer and violinist Rybak smashed the record for the most points awarded during the competition, while Iceland came second, followed by Azerbaijan in third. The Man Who Lives in the Star Trek Flat

Tony Alleyne decided to turn his apartment into a Star Trek spaceship replica after his wife left him. The 500-square-foot flat has molded walls, high-tech bathroom, voice activated blue lighting, air-conditioning and a command console–but there’s one thing missing—a bedroom. Tony decided to build the Transporter area instead. He hand-crafted all the furnishings himself—cutting timber and plexigas to create the futuristic look. Trekkie Tony said: “I have always considered that of all the Starfleet ships, Voyager is, in terms of interior, the luxury liner of the galaxy.”

Some see as an idling tractor, but to Olle Hemmingsson it’s a mobile two cylinder drum machine that happens to have an excessive amount of horsepower. It turns out it’s great addition to the rhythm section for a lovely cover of “Sweet Georgia Brown”.

Happy Spider Face!

Scientists have found themselves raising a smile when studying this creature - the happy face spider. The spider, which measures just a few millimetres across, has developed bizarre markings giving the appearance of a smiling face. Scientists think the spider, which has the scientific name Theridion grallator and is harmless to humans, has evolved the patterns to confuse predators.

Birds in Trousers

Another traveller has been caught with birds in his pants. This guy was trying to smuggle 14 of them into Los Angeles airport from Vietnam, but customs officials noticed feathers and bird crap on his socks.
