Israeli Forces Kill Palestinian Demonstrator In West Bank

Troops shot and killed the man during protests in the West Bank. And the Palestinian president accused Israel of starting a "religious war."

Israeli troops shot and killed a Palestinian demonstrator during a protest in the West Bank on Tuesday, after two Israelis were killed on Monday, the Associated Press reported.

Israeli forces said they have tightened security after a woman was stabbed and killed in the West Bank on Monday and a solider was fatally stabbed in Tel Aviv. Police said the assailants were Palestinian.

Meanwhile, the Palestinian president accused Israel on Tuesday of starting a "religious war" by letting Jews visit a holy site in Jerusalem.

As the AP reported:

Mahmoud Abbas says the visits are provocative, and that Palestinian worshippers will defend the site, revered by Jews as the Temple Mount and by Muslims as the Noble Sanctuary.

Jews are allowed to visit, but they are not supposed to pray there. An increase in the number of visits has sparked clashes and raised Muslim fears that Israel is plotting to take over the site and sparked clashes.
