The Deepest-Ever Image Of The Universe

See 5,500 galaxies in a single photo.

NASA just unveiled a new version of Hubble's Ultra Deep Field photograph, now including extra light from the infrared spectrum and new galaxies that were previously too faint to be seen. The result is 5,500 galaxies in a single photograph, taken with a camera that's ten billion times more light-sensitive than the human eye. This is as far into space as anyone's ever seen and (because of the finite speed of light) also as far back in time as we've ever seen.

Mind = blown.

A little closer.
