Man Denied Cover Charge Refund At Las Vegas Nightclub Shoots And Kills One, Injures Three

The suspect, who killed a patron who was trying to stop him, is now in police custody.

A man opened fire after being denied a refund on his cover charge at Drai's nightclub in Bally's Casino on the Las Vegas strip, killing a patron who tried to stop him, according to police.

Police said the manager, along with two other security officers at the club, were also injured in the shooting. The alleged shooter, whose identity is undisclosed, was also hospitalized with injuries.

According to Sgt. John Sheahan of the Vegas Metro Police, around 5:45 a.m. on Tuesday, a man asked security guards at Drai's After Hours nightclub, which is inside Bally's casino, if he could take a look inside before paying the $30 cover charge. After he was permitted to enter the club and look around, he apparently agreed to pay the cover charge and reentered the club. After being there for a short while, the man told security officers that the club wasn't busy enough and asked for some of his money back. When they refused, the man opened fire and shot the manager and two security officers as they attempted to take the gun from him. A patron who tried to intervene and stop the gunman was shot and killed, before other patrons and the club's security managed to subdue the shooter.

Those injured, including the gunman, have been hospitalized. The alleged shooter has been booked in absentia on multiple counts of attempted homicide.

The club was shut down after the shots were fired and patrons were forced to evacuate.
