Kurdish fighters are using snipers to repel the ISIS attack. They destroyed an ISIS tank in the east of Kobani, CNN reported.

The attack on Kobani comes a day after Turkish lawmakers voted to give the government power to order military incursions against ISIS in Iraq and Syria.

Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said Friday that Turkey would do what it can to prevent Kobani from falling to ISIS insurgents. "We wouldn't want Kobani to fall," he said.

More than 150,000 refugees have fled Kobani in the past two weeks as ISIS advanced towards the city, taking control of northern and eastern Syria in its attempt to establish a new Islamic state.

Around 4,000 refugees from Kobani crossed into Turkey on Wednesday alone, according to Turkish officials. Thousands were evacuated on Thursday as Kurdish fighters prepared to defend Kobani from the impending ISIS attack.
