Indian police have arrested the headmistress who could reveal how at least 23 children from her school, aged five to 12 years, died after consuming a free meal contaminated with deadly pesticides, reports Reuters.
The woman had gone into hiding after the tragic incident occurred on July 16, in the east Indian state of Bihar. She had been missing for a week until she was detained on her way to court to surrender.
The midday meal, part of a government program to fight malnutrition, was laced with monocrotophos, a banned pesticide in many countries.
