Tornado Reported As New Orleans Is Hammered By Severe Storms

Part of a train fell off a bridge. There have been no reported injuries.

New Orleans was hammered Monday by severe storms bringing rain, wind, and reportedly a tornado.

The region was under a tornado warning with officials reporting seeing at least one twister.

New Orleans Naval Air Station (NBG) is reporting a #tornado in their official observation at 10:55am CDT. Tornado began at 10:48am CDT.

The National Weather Service confirmed severe and strong winds in the same area.

A WGNO reporter posted video to Twitter showing parts of a train that fell of a bridge during the storm.

Incredible footage from the train's derailment was posted on multiple news websites.

There also seemed to be an electrical fire on a nearby power line.

Jing also reported that another segment of the train is still on the bridge, and in unstable condition. Emergency workers are trying to figure out how to secure it.

Many people reported flooding in neighborhoods.

The severe storm system has already brought heavy flooding and tornadoes to parts of Texas, the Associated Press reported.

There were no reports of injuries.
