A Man Stopped A Robbery At The Restaurant Where He Was Proposing To His Girlfriend

She said yes, because obviously.

All guys get a little nervous when planning the perfect proposal, but one North Carolina man probably didn't picture having to stop a robbery during his.

Nicholas Anderson told WCNC that when he decided to propose to his girlfriend, Deanna Deal, he asked her young son Brighton to help him plan. Brighton said he thought the perfect spot would be Salsarita's, a restaurant in Hickory.

Anderson asked Deal to go to the restaurant with him on Monday. He was gearing up for his big moment when he noticed a man running to the door, WCNC reported.

Anderson quickly realized the man was trying to rob the restaurant, and he sprung into action.

He leaped up and put the man in a chokehold, WCNC reported. The suspect was knocked out cold.

An off-duty police officer who saw the scene also helped to wrestle the suspect to the ground, the Charlotte Observer reported.

The two were able to restrain the suspect until authorities arrived to arrest him.

Calls from BuzzFeed News to the Hickory Police Department on Saturday were not immediately returned.

The suspect, Graham Kiziah, is suspected of trying to rob the restaurant with a weapon on two other occasions, according to the Charlotte Observer.

After saving the day, Anderson still had to propose. He decided to head to his backup proposal spot, a local park, where Deal happily accepted.

"After all that happened, asking her to marry me wasn't near as bad," Anderson told WCNC.
