Michigan High School Football Coach Allegedly Sent Sex Toys, Porn To Players

The school district began investigating Louis Michael Rau after officials reportedly received complaints from parents about explicit text messages.

A longtime coach of a successful high school football team in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, has been arrested on multiple charges after he allegedly sent porn and sex toys to his players.

Louis Michael Rau, 46, was taken into custody on Friday on eight felony counts, including accosting a child for immoral purposes and distributing sexually explicit material to a child, the Isabella County Sheriff's Department said.

Rau also faces four misdemeanor counts of selling or furnishing alcohol to minors.

Authorities identified five different victims who claimed they had received sexually explicit and/or nude photos and sex toys from Rau between 2011 and 2015. The youngest victim was 13 years old.

Two of the victims received the sex toys, and one was described as "a vagina with a tube," the Morning Sun reported.

The sheriff's department became involved in the investigation after meeting with representatives from Beal City Schools, where Rau coached varsity football.

The school officials told investigators that Rau had been sending the explicit materials to his players for the past four years, the sheriff's department said.

The school district began investigating Rau after it received complaints from parents about the explicit text messages, the Morning Sun reported.

When confronted, Rau resigned rather than talk to school officials about the allegations. The school then banned Rau from its property, according to the Morning Sun.

Rau became head coach of the team in 2000 and was extremely successful, boasting a 155-34 record, according to the Morning Sun.

Under his leadership, the team won the Division 8 state championship in 2009 and went to the finals four times.

The school district did not immediately return a request for comment from BuzzFeed News.
