Gunman Dead After Shooting Two Cops At Minnesota City Hall

The shooting was captured on a video camera filming a city council meeting in the town of New Hope. "Get down!" one council member said to several others.

A gunman is dead after shooting and injuring two police officers at a Minnesota city hall during a city council meeting.

Some of the incident was captured on a video camera that was filming the city council meeting in the town of New Hope.

In it, the members of the city council are seen hurrying under their desks after the shots ring out. One of the councilmen yells at his colleagues to get down, and draws a gun.

The councilman, John Elder, is a member of the Minneapolis Police Department, according to KARE.

The gunman was shot and killed after he opened fire on a group of police officers leaving the city hall after a swearing-in ceremony, the Hennepin County Sheriff's Department told BuzzFeed News.

Two officers were injured by the gunfire but have since been released from the hospital, the department said.
