Students began posting on Twitter about eighth-grade math teacher Michael Landsberry being wounded. It's still unclear, however, if Landsberry was shot and, if he was, what condition he is in.
The school was put into lockdown and students were then evacuated after police "neutralized" the shooter. It is unclear what condition the shooter is in.
Neighboring elementary school Agnes Risley canceled classes for the day as well.
Parents of Sparks Middle School students are able to pick up their children at at Sparks High School.
Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval released a statement, saying he was deeply saddened to learn of the shooting.
Additional details about the gunman, including a possible motive, are still unknown. Siobhan McAndrew, a reporter for the Reno Gazette-Journal, said students heard the shooter yelling before he started firing:
Police confirmed that a teacher was one of the ones shot and killed this morning, though they have yet to name the victim. Students on Twitter already have begun mourning on Twitter, believe it was Landsberry.
