Twitter's COO Ali Rowghani announced his departure from the company Thursday morning. Rowghani's announcement comes only a day after reports of infighting among the company's top managers.
According to Recode, Twitter was already shifting responsibility from Rowghani, who became the company's first operating officer in 2012 after Dick Costolo left the position in 2010 to become CEO.
Rowghani reportedly caused tensions among top Twitter management in May, when he sold 300,000 shares of stock for $9.9 million in profits. Rowghani has also been in charge of growth for the social media platform, which has been slumping in the last few years. Twitter declined to comment to Recode about Rowghani's status, however.
According to the Securities and Exchange Commission filing, Rowghani will continue to be a Twitter employee and act as a strategic adviser to the CEO, and all of his responsibilities will be assumed by other members of the Twitter management team.
Top Twitter members like Costolo have publicly wished Rowghani the best in tweet replies to his announcement.
