Boston Bikers Had To Dig A 40-Foot Snow Tunnel Because That's How Crappy This Winter Has Been

No more winter please.

There's a biking path that connects Boston to Medford, Massachusetts. Thanks to plows and snow build up, though, it's been rendered unusable.

Ari Goldberger, a local Boston musician, and his friend, Shadron Davis, decided to do something about it. They dug a tunnel.

"Building it was a lot of fun," Goldberger told BuzzFeed News. "It was awesome to see how well it all worked out when we finished."

Goldberger said the tunnel helped him get to work without having to go through a dangerous intersection in the area.

The tunnel stretched for 40 feet and took about 10 hours of digging.

Then, tragically, this week, the "Big Dig II" — as Goldberger and his friends called it — was demolished.

"When I saw that the top had been knocked down, I had mixed feelings," Goldberger said. "The pathway had been widened, bringing me closer to the original goal, but then they'd re-blocked the path, as though they'd missed the point completely!"

So he and his friends went back out to fix the path, yet again.

Now, it's one of the clearer parts of the whole area.

Look at the proud faces of people not letting this horrible, horrible, horrible winter bring them down.

Also, here's a video of the tunnel before it was demolished. Kind of an awesome way to get to work actually.
