Former California Governor Gray Davis said today that recall is a "part of the process" that elected officials should be prepared for.
"Whether you like it or not when you are in politics in the West you realize that referendum, initiative, and recall are part of the process," a Democrat Davis, who was booted in a 2003 recall that made way for Arnold Schwarzenegger, said on MSNBC's "Now with Alex Wagner."
"Did I like getting recalled? No," David said. "But in difficult times, if you're going to ask people to make difficult decisions, voters should not be surprised - particularly when candidates
are candid and clear about what they're going to do if they get elected."
Davis said that, at least in California, recall is "part of the deal" and "if you don't like that, find some other line of work."
If Governor Scott Walker is ousted in tomorrow's recall election in Wisconsin, it will be the third time in America's history that a sitting governor was successfully recalled.
Davis said today that "I'm not getting involved in that race" (the Wisconsin race) but that "I'm sure the Democrats will vote against him and Republicans will
vote for him."
