The powerful wordsmiths who dictate the Scrabble rules have paused their eternal board game to bestow us spelling mortals with a handful of new words straight out of a teenager's lexicon.
The new additions "go a long way toward bringing us closer to the language as it is currently spoken," said John Chew, co-president of the North American Scrabble Players Association.

Hashtag
Chillax
Dubstep
And bromance.
These words, plus about 5,000 others, will all appear in the Fifth Edition of The Official SCRABBLE Player's Dictionary, created by Merriam-Webster. The new dictionary goes on sale Wednesday.
The Scrabble bible has remained untouched for nearly a decade, but these new words are able to be put to use immediately, both for ruining your grandma's weekend at her beach house and for the 500 Scrabblers coming together for the national championships in Buffalo, New York, on Aug. 9.
