Teen Dies At Frat House Hours After Tweeting "It's About To Be A Very Eventful Night"

The 18-year-old was found without a pulse late Wednesday night.

Nolan Burch, a freshman at West Virginia University, died on Friday following a "catastrophic medical emergency" at a fraternity house Wednesday night, WGRZ reported.

The incident reportedly happened at the Kappa Sigma house during Big Brother/Big Sister night.

Dean of Students Corey Farris put all Greek activities under an immediate moratorium due to the death.

A separate incident at WVU resulted in fraternity Sigma Chi getting suspended last week after 19 pledges were found intoxicated and partaking in a street brawl at 1:30 a.m.

On Wednesday, the Williamsville, New York, native tweeted, "It's about to be a very eventful night to say the least."

Hours later, Morgantown police found Burch lying on the floor, not breathing and without a pulse, while a man performed CPR on him. He was then rushed to the hospital.

"Words cannot describe the heartache we, as a West Virginia University family, feel at the loss of one of our own — Nolan Michael Burch — who passed away today," WVU President E. Gordon Gee said in a statement.

The teen's few tweets show that he likely had partaken in the college party scene before this week.

Tweets under the #PrayForNolan hashtag suggest that the 18-year-old was a victim of hazing, though this has not been confirmed.

"These things shouldn't happen," Joyce Stamp, Burch's great-aunt, told NBC News. "He's only 18. He's a nice young man and I'm shocked."

She added, "But he's a freshman and even very intelligent kids sometimes get caught up. You hear all the stuff about hazing, and this is his first time away from home."

An eerie tweet sent by Burch the day before the incident had gotten 1,300 retweets as of Friday afternoon. It was a paragraph written by a Tumblr user that ended: "If you're reading this, congratulations, you made it to today. You made it."
