A cat in Bakersfield, Calif., potentially saved a boy's life when it staved off a vicious dog attack, and the whole rescue was caught on surveillance video.

First, the 4-year-old boy, Jeremy Triantafilo, is seen playing on his bike in the driveway.
A dog belonging to a neighbor comes around a car and sneaks up on Jeremy.
The dog runs up to Jeremy and viciously attacks him, dragging him down the pavement by the leg.
Suddenly, the family cat, Tara, rushes out and knocks the dog off the boy, saving him.
Tara even makes sure the dog gets the message that it's not welcome.
Jeremy's mother told KERO-TV that he was fine, but needed a few stitches.
Update, 3:41 p.m., ET: The dog was picked up by animal control after yesterday's attack and will be euthanized, TMZ reports .
