Bill Cosby Once Joked About Drugging Women's Drinks

The clip, from 1969, was tracked down by the Village Voice.

Following yet another woman coming forward to accuse Bill Cosby of drugging and raping her, the Village Voice dug up an old routine of his where he jokes about drugging women's drinks.

In the 1969 routine, Cosby describes hearing about a special drug, "Spanish Fly," that would make a girl get loose if it was slipped into her drink.

Though the drug has been rumored to act as an aphrodisiac, it really is "an irritant that's sometimes deadly," reported Gawker.

The bit goes:

It always happens when you're 13, only when you're 13 on up 'til when you get married. Guys standing around and talking about Spanish fly.

"You know anything about Spanish fly?" "No, tell me about it."

"Well there's this girl Crazy Mary, you put some in her drink man, she, 'Haaaaaaaaaaaaah.'"

"Oh yeah, that's really groovy man, Spanish fly is groovy, yeah."

From then on, any time you see a girl: "Wish I had some Spanish fly."

Go to a party see five girls standing alone: "Boy if I had a whole jug of Spanish fly, I'd light that corner up over there. HAAAAAAH."

The comic goes on to say that his teenage interest in the drug never left him, expressing excitement to a friend when his show, I Spy, heads to Spain to film.

A childhood dream come true... I said, "Hey Bob, you know what I'm going to pick up in Spain? He said, "Spanish fly."

Last weekend, Cosby refused to speak when he was asked about the multiple rape allegations by NPR's Scott Simon, choosing instead to sit in silence and shake his head.

An attempt from Cosby's PR team last week to drum up publicity also massively backfired when they encouraged Twitter users to post memes of him and many responded with entries that recalled the rape allegations.

Cosby has an untitled sitcom in development with NBC.
