Is This The New Gold iPhone 5S?

Photos purporting to show the shell of a forthcoming gold iPhone model leaked onto a Japanese website early Thursday.

Apple reportedly is preparing to release a new gold, or what some are calling "champagne," colored iPhone model next month.

The new device will be introduced at an Apple event on Sept. 10, the Wall Street Journal reported.

The back of the new device may feature a thinner font in the "iPhone" inscription, possibly a style cue from the software's dramatic redesign in iOS 7, which is set to ship at the same time.

Aside from the new color (and possibly font) the phone appears to be identical in design to the current iPhone 5 model.

The blog that posted the images said the new "champagne gold" colored shell was provided by mobile phone parts supplier Moumontai. BuzzFeed could not verify the authenticity of the images.
