Texas Woman Murdered By Ex-Boyfriend Hours After Reporting Him To Police

A Texas woman was allegedly shot and killed by her ex-boyfriend in a murder-suicide just hours after reporting him to police for threatening her.

A 33-year-old Texas woman is dead after her ex-boyfriend shot and killed her Tuesday morning in an apartment in Flour Bluff, Texas, before turning the gun on himself, police said.

The murder-suicide occurred less than one day after Heather Coglaiti reported her ex, Jose Calderon, 46, to police for threatening her and slashing her tires.

In a police interview released Tuesday, Calderon told the officer, "We've done this a lot through the whole two years. We go back and forth, we'll fight like this and she knows I won't punch her but she punches the hell out of me in the face and she'll bite, do whatever."

He denied threatening her and slashing her tires. After the 37-minute interview, Calderon was released without being charged.

Sixteen hours later, Calderon and Coglaiti would both be dead.

According to the police report, at around 5 a.m. on Tuesday morning, Corpus Christi Police Department discovered "a 46-year-old man dead, a 33-year-old woman dead, an injured adult and at least one other person who was uninjured at an apartment in Flour Bluff. An ambulance crew took the injured adult man to the hospital for treatment of what Officers believe to be a gunshot wound to the lower abdomen."

The police said evidence at the scene supports that the incident was a murder-suicide.

On Tuesday afternoon, CCPD released documents to local media detailing the on-again-off-again couple's troubled history.

According to the documents, seven incidents were reported to police last month, including alleged death threats by Calderon against Coglaiti.
