Three Women Missing For Years Found Alive In Ohio

Amanda Berry went missing at age 16 in 2003, and Gina DeJesus went missing at age 14 on her way home from school about a year later. These two women, along with another woman, Michelle Knight, who has been missing since 2002, and an unidentified child were found in a residential community in Cleveland on Monday.

What We Know So Far:

1. Three missing women — Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight — were found Monday night in Cleveland, Ohio. The house where they were held is at 2207 Seymour Avenue.

2. The women were found after a neighbor heard Berry screaming for help behind a locked door while the captors were out. Charles Ramsey, the neighbor, called 911. So did Berry.

3. Amanda Berry was 16 when she disappeared in 2003. Gina DeJesus was 14 when she went missing in 2004. Michelle Knight's background is unclear.

4. A little girl was found with the women. She is believed to be the daughter one of them.

5. The three women spent the night in the hospital, where their condition was described as fair. They were released Tuesday morning.

6. Three men have been arrested in connection with the kidnapping. 52-year-old Ariel Castro and two of his brothers. They have not yet been charged.

Cleveland: Crowds cheering outside home where Amanda Berry and Gina DeJesus were found alive, @wkyc reports

CLEVELAND (AP) — Cheering crowds gathered Monday night on the street near the home where police say Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and a third woman were found earlier in the day.

Berry disappeared at age 16 on April 21, 2003, when she called her sister to say she was getting a ride home from her job at a Burger King. DeJesus went missing at age 14 on her way home from school about a year later.

In January, a prison inmate was sentenced to 4 1/2 years after admitting he provided a false burial tip in Berry's disappearance. A judge in Cleveland sentenced Robert Wolford on his guilty plea to obstruction of justice, making a false report and making a false alarm.

Last summer, Wolford tipped authorities to look for Berry's remains in a Cleveland lot. He was taken to the location, which was dug up with backhoes.

Two men arrested for questioning in the disappearance of DeJesus in 2004 were released from the city jail in 2006 after officers did not find her body during a search of the men's house.

One of the men was transferred to the Cuyahoga County Jail on unrelated charges, while the other was allowed to go free, police said.

In September 2006, police acting on a tip tore up the concrete floor of the garage and used a cadaver dog to search unsuccessfully for DeJesus' body. Investigators confiscated 19 pieces of evidence during their search but declined to comment on the significance of the items then.

Cleveland police department confirms that an arrest has been made:

A 52 year old Hispanic male has been placed under arrest regarding this incident.
