The president of the Maricopa County, Arizona, chapter of the National Association of the Advancement of Colored People has resigned after facing backlash for telling a female TV reporter she had "nice tits."
Donald Harris, 77, resigned on Monday, according to the executive board of the NAACP branch.
The move came after Harris told a female reporter last week she had "nice tits" following an NAACP meeting to discuss a photo that had gone viral featuring Phoenix high school students in shirts that spelled out the N-word.
KPNX-TV reporter Monique Griego and several other journalists were asking Harris questions about what the meeting had accomplished, when he made the remark.
Harris later apologized in an interview with the Phoenix News Times.
"I apologize if anyone was offended. I could have said nothing," he said. "I'm really fucking sorry."

Harris became president of the NAACP chapter in 2015, following the resignation of Rev. Oscar Tillman who had lead the branch for 22 years.
The Maricopa County NAACP board met Monday before announcing that they had accepted Harris's resignation. Harris said previously that he had emailed executive board members of the NAACP chapter to say he would offer his resignation, if they wanted it.
"I said if they want me gone, I'm gone," Harris told The Arizona Republic on Jan. 28. "I'm not ducking from anything. I did something stupid and wrong and I'm sorry for it. I can't beat myself forever about it. I said it. And I can't be any more sincere."
