David Bowie's family released a statement on the singer's official Facebook page Thursday, welcoming "everyone's celebration of his life as they see fit."
In the statement, Bowie's family noted that while tributes and concerts celebrating the musician are welcome, none are official memorials organized or endorsed by the family.
Bowie died Sunday after an 18-month battle with cancer. His 26th studio album, Blackstar, was released on his 69th birthday — just two days before he died.
Arrangements are being made for a private ceremony celebrating Bowie and family members ask for their privacy to be respected.
"We are overwhelmed by and grateful for the love and support shown throughout the world," the statement reads.

They ask once again that their privacy be respected at this most sensitive of times.
We are overwhelmed by and grateful for the love and support shown throughout the world.
However, it is important to note that while the concerts and tributes planned for the coming weeks are all welcome, none are official memorials organized or endorsed by the family.
