The transit police officer struck during the shootout with the Boston Marathon bombers returned to work Friday – and was promoted to sergeant.
Donohue's return to work and promotion come as a federal jury is deliberating over whether to sentence Dzokhar Tsarnaev to death or life in prison without parole. Tamerlan was killed after his brother ran him over in the days after the bombing.
Donohue was shot in the leg and almost bled to death on April 19, 2013 during a firefight with the Tsarnaev brothers in Watertown, Massachusetts. Donohue was bleeding from his groin as another officer performed CPR on him.
The officer was regularly in the courtroom during Tsarnaev's trial. After a jury found Tsarnaev guilty on all charges, Donohue told BuzzFeed News he felt "satisfied, but not happy."
